Our Commitment to Reconciliation

Acknowledging the injustices of the past, taking a stand against the prejudices of the present, to help create a better future for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

QATSIF is proud to be the largest provider of secondary school scholarships for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people across Queensland. By covering such a wide area, QATSIF is uniquely placed to make a real, positive impact towards reconciliation. Through our scholarship program and close connections with Indigenous communities, Queensland schools and students we aim to close the Indigenous education gap a create opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

In 2019, QATSIF officially released its first ‘Innovate‘ Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). In addition to the continuation of our QCE Scholarship program, the RAP strengthens our commitment to learning, appreciation and spreading of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. QATSIF believes that encouraging others to accept, understand and participate in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures is the most powerful way of furthering reconciliation.

What We Aim To Do

There are three key areas for QATSIF’s RAP that focus on relationships, respect and opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples. We aim to:

  • Build QATSIF’s relationship with our students within and beyond Year 11 & 12.

  • Endeavour to meet cultural protocols and to respect and celebrate local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and traditions.

  • Use the RAP process to increase Indigenous employment opportunities and our connections with Indigenous businesses.
